2009 Annual Fund

WEV Board - Matthew Berger

Women's Economic Ventures is a local, non-profit organization dedicated to creating an equitable and just society through the economic empowerment of women.

WEV provides practical, down-to-earth, small business training and counseling to give our clients the best possible chance of success and once they've completed a business plan, we provide access to capital with start-up loans of $25,000 and expansion loans of up to $50,000 from our loan fund.

Some people think that starting a business during a recession is just too risky, yet during the past two recessions, 77% of the net new jobs were created by small businesses – those with five or fewer employees— businesses like those started by WEV clients.

At WEV, our goal is simple: to help businesses stay in business, drive other local businesses to them, retain jobs and create new ones.  WEV encourages the entrepreneurial spirit in all women regardless of income or employment status, because we know they are the catalysts for economic recovery.

This year, each Board member's challenge is to raise $7,500 to support Women’s Economic Ventures achieve its mission.  I'm personally inviting you to join my cause.
