After working in the construction industry for over 20 years
I was offered a job selling windows by a local distributor. I spent the next
three years working for other people and was constantly frustrated by the lack
of customer service and attention to detail. After losing my job, I had no
prospects and no interest in working for the competition. It wasn’t a difficult
decision to go into business for myself.
I started Maverick
Window & Door out of my home in January of 2007. In 2008 I came to WEV for
a $30,000 loan for the capital I needed to create a presence in the community
including the creation of a show room.
Since then the company has been on a rapid growth trajectory, with 25%
growth in 2009 and 50% growth in profit and size in 2010, and again in 2011. I now employ three full-time and two part-time
employees and we are planning a second location.
WEV capitalized a critical growth period for me and my
business and allowed me to avoid “growing myself broke” and eventually become
bankable. Without the support from donors like you my business wouldn’t be
thriving like it is today. Please make a gift to WEV to support the survival
and growth of local businesses in our community.
