Have you ever looked at children's books illustrations and wondered why our real life can not be that colorful, whimsical and imaginative? It can be, but, unfortunately, there are not that many really colorful products on the market in USA.  Colorful children's furniture, bedding, toys and clothes are very popular in Europe, Latin America, Africa, even Middle East, but not here.  I am not sure if American consumers are afraid of bright colors because they are afraid of expressing themselves and want to blend in to the crowd, or they were conditioned into making these choices by what is offered by major retailers.

Whatever the reason is, I know American kids love bright colors, and I am on a mission to splash bright colors into their lives. I looked into importing products from Europe, but with the current exchange rate and shipping rates, those products would be cost-prohibitive for most families.  As a result, I am offering high-quality colorful products for children made only in USA and Canada.  All of my products are designed and manufactured by parents, who were initially making things for their own children, and then popularity of their products grew their hobby into a business. All of our products are made with superior craftsmanship and attention to detail that you can find only at small and family businesses.

Colorful Childhood Store is my first on-line venture as a mompreneur.  My intention is to create a destination for everything colorful and fun, arts and crafts activities for kids, pretend and dress-up play, ideas for decorating kids rooms, fairy-tale wall art, colorful clocks, educational games, and just simple old-fashioned toys.  We offer eco-friendly products that are washable and recyclable. Over time I will be adding resources and materials on creative and artistic development, research on how kids perceive color, colorful recipes, and ideas for quality family time.

WEV is a wonderful organization that gave me the tools and, most of all, support and self-confidence to make my dream into reality. A lot of women do not realize how capable they are, and how much more sensitive to risks of starting their own businesses compared to men. WEV has so many wonderful role models that persevered and became successful in their endeavous inspite of challenging personal circumstances and beating all the odds. These businesswomen insprired us and filled us with so much passion and enthusiasm, my classmates and I had to start our own businesses and follow our dreams.  After WEV experience, we just could not settle for a regular job anymore. I highly recommend WEV to any women who are not happy at their jobs and have dreams of owning their own business, but just do not know where to start. WEV is an amazing empowering program!

Graduation for class of WEV Spring 2009 was a success. Where else can you bring little kids to graduation and have cake and chocolate-covered strawberries? Here is a picture of my exhibit.
